Mako actually trusts Selenia. Like, he thinks there might be some things off base with Selenia's interpretation of things, but mostly he sees Selenia as someone trying really, really hard to manage Aather. And let's be frank, Aather is a hard thing to manage, much less understand. So he doesn't even hold it against him. And Selenia is one of the few people Mako feels okay voicing his frustrations with the system-- his conversations with other knights tend to veer towards "how does the system work" and his conversations with other team players tend to be really, really shallow.

So Selenia fits a pretty big niche for Mako. I think that hasn't so much as changed as... solidified as a thing. Though it might be awkward with the conversation he's having with your teammate right now.
